About Basic Seed treatment

It is important to maintain the freshness of the seeds, in order to facilitate proper germination. That’s why we keep all our seeds in the freezer that are designed for this purpose. So, to maintain their freshness until you are ready to begin the germination process, you can save to buy seeds in a plastic bag that we provide. You can place the seeds of vegetable drawer of the refrigerator.

On Germination Instructions

When you are ready to germinate your seeds, you have two methods of germination (2): natural or forced germination germination.

Natural Germination: sow the seeds outside in autumn. Overwintering seeds meet all the necessary processes of natural seedlings need to grow. Next spring, you should grow the seed.

What forced germination, you are the germination process artificially. Thus, you must follow the instructions below. Every other seed. However, most of them require three (3) steps. Some people may require more, while others may need less. These steps: scarification, stratification and sowing.

1 – Scarification

Each seed has a shell around the inside of living. Some of them are stronger than others. The aim is to soften the shell scarification and allow water to reach the inside of the seed. You scare the seeds by placing them in water, usually a glass or bowl, within twenty-four (24) to forty-eight (48) hours. Rules seem to use warm water. Some seeds require boiling water, while others require water at room temperature. Usually, seeds worth drowned after twenty-four (24) hours, while others will float on top. If there are still seeds floating after the forty-eight (48) hours, you can cancel them, because they are empty seed. Once you’re ready to proceed to the next step (note that some seeds need to proceed directly to stage three).

2 – cold stratification

The next step is a period of cold stratification. This step is where all the miracles of nature occur. In nature, most seeds falling from trees in autumn. As a result, the seed during the cold winter temperatures allow the chemicals in the seeds develop and begin the process of germination after achieving the ideal temperature is in the spring. In the forced germination process, you try to create the winter. To perform this process using the following materials:

Ziplock plastic bags
Paper towels
Water

Fold the paper towel in two and moisten with water. This should not be wet, but moist. Place the seeds in a wet cloth and put it on the seed. Place a paper towel with the seeds in a ziplock plastic bag and store in the refrigerator for a period of thirty (30) one hundred twenty (120) days. We recommend that you check your seeds every thirty (30) days to prevent rotting and allows for proper air circulation. You can also check the seedling. If so, take the seeds germinate and proceed to the next step. If not, then wait a specified period, and then proceed to the next step.

3 – Seeding

Sowing can be done on earth or in the bank. You can use the land suitable for planting and cultivation. Make a small hole in the ground (around half (1 / 2) inches), place the seeds in the open and close with a few millimeters of soil. Maintain soil moisture.

Additional specific steps

If you choose your seeds grow through the forced germination process, you may be required to comply with the extra step. At this stage occurs before the cold stratification. All you need to do is expose the seeds at room temperature within thirty (30) within 90 (ninety) days. This is called heat stratification and by leaving open seeds on a plate on the table. Once you reach this step, you proceed with cold stratification.
